Hope 4/27/2019: Success in Prayers

James said, “You have not because you asked not.” Ask for it and then go get it.

I used to pray some lofty dreams. I thought that all I had to do was believe and then ask. As you can imagine, the process wasn’t very successful. Neither was asking for something in return for something else: “God, if You could only do this one small thing for me, I promise I will do something else in return.” What a disappointment! I thought all I had to do was ask, and I could receive. As a foolish youth, I bargained with God all the time. Even now, I occasionally revert back to my old ways, “Oh God, if you would only help me find my keys, I will…”

I still pray for my lofty aspirations, but my tactics have changed. No longer will I offer an unrelated service for my desires. Instead, I offer to work my tail off to get it. What use is it to pray for success in any pursuit if I am not willing to pursue?

Everything you want is out there waiting for you to ask. Everything you want also wants you. But you have to take action to get it.  -Jack Canfield

The Virtue of Hope

There is a belief by some that tomorrow will be better, that our future will be a little brighter. This hope is what spurns them to keep going even when the day is at its darkest. Without hope, we are lost.
