A superior man is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions. -Confucius
I have noticed a strange phenomenon as I continue to work on my breathing while exercising. Concentrating on keeping my mouth and focusing on breathing only through my nose has made me more thoughtful. Is it the focus of the practice or is it something else? By keeping my mouth shut, my mind is working to steady the breathing and focus on the task at hand.
I have taken this breathing practice beyond exercise. In my daily routine, I constantly monitor my breath. In through my nose. Out through my nose. Steady the breathing. Focus the mind and continue to work on the task at hand. My words are sparing. I do not talk unless I feel a strong need to do so.
What is the result? Well, I wouldn’t say I am a superior man, but I am becoming better. I let my actions speak for themselves. I don’t waste time telling the world what I am going to do, I just do it.
