Faith 5/31/2019: Break Free
You can choose to roll along with the tide, going wherever it directs you. Do so, and you will call it destiny. Whether your destination leads to the promised land or somewhere entirely different, you will be resigned to this fate. A product of the environment in which you were born, forever stuck.

Pops was an alcoholic and I have the same hereditary genes.
You could go the other way. You could live your own life beyond the expectations of others. After all, it is your life. As far as you know, you only get one. To resign yourself to this fate and not live it to the fullest would be to take that precious life you have been given and throw it away. What a waste that would be.
Break down the walls that others have erected around you. Break down the walls of your own self-inflicted prison and be free. What is on the side is indeed splendid.
